House of Campitello di Fassa Mountain Guides

A renewed look for the House of Campitello di Fassa Mountain Guides (Casa delle Guide), which after a few years reopens the doors with enthusiasm for mountain lovers, thanks to the work of the mountain guides of the Fassa Guide mountaineering school.

In the late 1960s, on February 19, 1969, with the affirmation of free climbing, Carlo Platter, Emilio Talmon, Renzo Planchensteiner, Lodovico Vaia and Almo Giambisi, founded the Group of Ciamorces de Fasha (the Chamois of Fassa in Ladin). The status of founders will later be recognized also to Gino Battisti, Carlo Brunel and Aldo Gross (April 25, 1970).

The idea of creating a group of mountaineers in Val di Fassa was born from the intention of wanting to relaunch mountaineering ideals, promoting and spreading mountaineering especially among young people.

As the membership increased, the need for its own office was felt. At the meeting held in Campitello di Fassa on March 25, 1971, it was therefore decided to purchase a prefabricated building which will then be delivered in the first week of July of the same year.

Thus was born the "Casa delle Guide e Ciamorces", meeting point and constant point of reference for organizing the group's official initiatives. From there several mountaineering expeditions will follow, among many: The Val di Fassa expedition 1976 Guide and Ciamorces in Patagonia and the expedition to Mount Cho Oyu (8201 meters) in 1996.

Later, names such as Tone Valeruz of Canazei, one of the greatest exponents of extreme skiing in the world (the descents from Bianco, Cervino, Alpamaio, Eiger bear his signature) and extra-European mountain climbers Sergio Valentini and Fabrizio Defrancesco joined the group.

Currently, the history of the House of Campitello di Fassa Mountain Guides (Casa delle Guide) is carried on by the new generations of mountain guides from Campitello and Val di Fassa, who have given new life to the historic structure since 2016, expanding their "family" with mountain guides from Fassa, including Renato Bernard (president of Fassa Guide), Bruno Pederiva (president of Ciamorces), Walter Del Frè, Robert Cecco and Etienne Bernard who practice their profession on the Dolomite territory and in the Alps with passion and devotion.
