The Roda di Vael via ferrata in the Catinaccio group owes its reputation mostly to the marvelous panoramic view on the surrounding dolomite peaks and on the valley; the technical issues are bearable and the equipment is absolutely efficient. The Roda di Vael via ferrata features a 230 meters elevation gain, the one of the whole excursion is 680 meters. The track is equipped with metal wires during its whole length; it develops on a rocky ground that is not too steep and it features safe steps.

The approach starts from Rifugio Paolina-Paolinahütte, at an elevation of 2125 meters, also reachable with the chair lift. Through a marvelous trail heading north we reach Passo Vajolon and the attack of the via ferrata. The descent takes place through the green south-east slope until Rifugio Roda di Vael-Rotwandhütte and then all the way to Rifugio Paolina through a wonderful trail.
