Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Monte Castello

The excursion starts from rifugio Pederü at an elevation of 1548 meters. We go up through the sled track and, crossing an upland surrounded by majestic rock walls, we reach rifugio Fanes (Ücia de Fanes, 2060 meters) and Passo di Limo (2174 meters).

The tour, then, goes on within a very evocative and enchanting environment and after a long climb through Vallon Bianco and a last steep stretch we reach our destination: the rock tooth of Mount Castello and the bivouac “Piccolo Bivacco della Pace” at an elevation of 2760 meters. The view to the the three Tofane and the Val Travenanzes is marvelous and priceless.

Skiing down the wide Vallon Bianco, often abundant in powder snow, we get to the starting point in Pederü.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Monte Castello in the Fanes- Senes- Braies Nature Park features a 1300 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated PD (Not Quite So Difficult). Maximum incline is 35 degrees.
