The first section of the path - the climbing route that Giovani Battista Vinatzer and Ettore Castiglioni opened on September 1936 - is the most demanding stretch of the itinerary and it features some short overhanging stretches and a few dihedrals and chimneys that lead to the exit on the middle ridge and to the east terrace where the Diretta Messner starts and it goes up on compact plates until the ridge and to the summit of Mount Punta Rocca.
The resting points of the climb are very well equipped.
