The via Ferrata del Vallon offers a very interesting and scenic loop itinerary developing within a spectacular environment before Mount Sasso delle Nove and Mount Sasso delle Dieci, in the Sella Massif. The excursion leads to a beautiful and solitary peak from where one can enjoy a magnificent view on all the Dolomites.
The Via Ferrata del Vallon is not a very popular path. With a 100 meters elevation gain it reaches the summit of Mount Sasso delle Nove. It is equipped with a metal wire and with a 3 meter long hanging bridge. It features a very evocative passage by a waterfall. This via ferrata does not feature any notable technical issues except for a few exposed and athletic passages on the steep final stretch.
The excursion starts from Rifugio Kostner al Vallon, at an elevation of 2536 meters, that can be reached from Corvara with the cable car and a short walking stretch. The approach stretches through a very beautiful path developing in this characteristic dolomite environment.
The return follows a spectacular - sometimes exposed - trail that is partially equipped with a metal wire and that leads back to the starting point. While descending it is also possible to deviate and reach the summit of Mount Piz Boè, at an elevation of 3164 meters, making the excursion substantially longer.
