It stretches within a tough and majestic environment offering landscapes of peeress beauty. A long and demanding excursion yet not particularly hard as far as its technical issues are concerned.

The Marmolada West Ridge via ferrata to Punta Penia does not feature extreme technical issues but it still offers a thrilling high mountain experience with engaging stretches on glacier. The climb of this equipped trail develops on steep, slippery ramps but it is always well secured, particularly in its most complex passages.

The path, along the Marmolada West Ridge, is optimally equipped with metal wires and brackets. It features a 450 meter elevation gain (1280 meters for the whole excursion).

The excursion starts from Passo Fedaia. The approach leads to the glacier Ghiacciaio del Vernel and to Forcella della Marmolada from where the hikers will reach the attack of the West Ridge via ferrata. The descent starts through the north ridge, partially iced, and it goes down through a rocky stretch equipped with metal wire all the way to glacier Ghiacciaio della Marmolada and back to the starting point.

It is possible to divide the climb in two days (600m first day and 700m second day) by staying overnight in the evening before the excursion to the Ghiaccio della Marmolada refuge.

In this case, on the morning of the excursion, the guide will meet you directly at the Ghiaccio della Marmolada refuge. Excursion departure: 8.30 am.

Participants Anyone over the age of 16, with an adequate level of training and fitness, can participate in this experience.
