The Mèsules via ferrata is one of the most beautiful and renowned equipped trails in the Sella Massif. It features a very steep, exposed and "alpine-fashioned" climb.
The marvelous climb overcomes the north-west vertical wall of Mount Piz Ciavazès before covering the side of Mount Piz Selva all the way to the summit, at an elevation of 2941 meters. From there the view is unique and spectacular.
The itinerary of the Mèsules via ferrata, the oldest of Sella Massif (1912), features a 600 meters elevation gap (with a total of 700 meters) and during the first section it develops through spectacular exposed passages and very technical vertical stretches. In its second part, after crossing a charming ledge, the climb gets easier and - through clefts and steps - it leads to the summit of Mount Piz Selva.
The track, equipped with fixed wires, rungs, brackets and ladders, features some exposed stretches and it requires good training and experience.
The excursion starts by passo Sella and it features a fast approach (about ten minutes). The descent takes place through a very scenic trail along the Mesules upland and Val Lasties valley.
