The I Magnifici 4 via ferrata is an interesting itinerary developing within the marvelous Mount Marmolada Range in the Maerins. The progression mostly takes place through narrow couloirs in a tough environment.
Some sections of the climb are very technical and demanding with several vertical or overhanging passages. The I Magnifici 4 via ferrata is dedicated to the memory of the four rescuers that died under an avalanche in Val Lasties on December 2009.
The I Magnifici 4 via ferrata is a particularly demanding and definitely technical path; it is recommended for the expert and well trained climbers. I Magnifici 4 via ferrata is considered one of the hardest equipped tracks of the Dolomites both for the length of its difficult and athletic passages and for the notable psychic and physical effort involved.
The equipment is good and optimally maintained; the many metal wires are constantly well taut. The climb is assisted with many brackets, rungs and footholds. The I Magnifici 4 via ferrata features a 365 meter elevation gain (590 meters for the whole excursion).
The excursion starts from Malga Crocifisso, in valley Val San Nicolò. Climbing up through the valley the hikers will cross the creek and they will gain elevation through a nice trail. The attack is by a great crack on the rocky wall. The return to Malga Crocifisso takes place through a mild trail.
