Col Rodella is an extremely evocative via ferrata that features a motley climb on great rock and definitely steep ground with some exposed stretches. The view is marvelous during both the climb and the descent that develops through a wonderful and panoramic trail that leads to Rifugio Des Alpes.
This via Ferrata Col Rodella cuts through the south-east side of Mount Col Rodella, a mountainous relief dominating the residential area of Campitello di Fassa. It offers a motley climb on steady and well equipped rock with some technical stretches and some very thrilling vertical jumps. The ferrata features a 110 meters elevation gap (with a total of 350 meters). The view is fantastic during the whole hike.
The via Ferrata Col Rodella is optimally equipped, the distance between the rungs, the rods and the handholds is never too long and the wire is thick and constantly taut. Some metal brackets help the hikers pass a steep stretch. The excursion is moderately difficult and it is good for the beginner hikers.
The excursion starts from Rifugio Passo Sella, at an elevation of 2180 meters. The approach to the via ferrata takes place through a steep trail in a wonderful wood and through open meadows. The descent can take place either through the comfortable trail that goes round Mount Col Rodella or going round Mount Sassolungo and Mount Sassopiatto through an easy and thrilling route that offers marvelous views.
