The ski mountaineering excursion to Piz de Lavarella (3055 meters) is a classic and extremely scenic hike. It is rather hard and it develops within enchanting landscapes in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. The thrilling ski descent developing through north-facing slopes offers good snow almost all the time.

Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Piz de Lavarella

The excursion starts from Rifugio Pederù. We reach Altopiano di Fanes (Fanes Upland) climbing up the trail and then, passing by Rifugio Fanes, we head to Giogo di Limo and to the valley squeezed between Conturines and Lavarella. After passing a steep couloir, we keep climbing through sweet slopes within a wide valley and we reach the col, at an elevation of 2885 meters. After a definitely steep stretch we reach a plain and we easily keep on to the crest and to the top. The descent takes place through the climb route.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Piz de Lavarella features a 1500 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and ski mountaineering technical skills and is rated BSA (Good Ski Mountaineer). Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
