Beautiful and evocative, the ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Sief (2424 meters) develops through woods, sweet clearings and wide meadows sprinkled with typical alpine cottages. Te hike is very pleasant and offers enchanting and summoning landscapes with the World War One foxholes ruins and the commemorative plaque on top of the mountain.
The ski mountaineering excursion starts from the village of Sief, by Arabba; we proceed until we cross a little valley and we reach the west ridge of the mountain. Climbing through steep slopes we first reach the peak and the top Cross and then, after walking through the exposed crest, we get to the secondary summit. From there we can start the spectacular skiing descent either through the steep east side of te mountain or along the sweet and easier north slopes. The ski ride is very satisfying and it leads to the starting point.
The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Sief features a 900 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated PD (Not Quite So Difficult). Maximum incline is 35 degrees.
