Col Becchei Ski Mountaineering

Long, steep and rather demanding, the ski mountaineering excursion to Col Becchei (2794 meters) is a marvelous tour that develops within the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. The top is conquered through woods, wide valleys, steep slopes and by overtaking the evocative Lago di Limo (Lake Limo). The hard climb offers, once one gets to the top, a thrilling view.

Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Col Becchei

The excursion starts from the parking lot in Pederü (1548 meters). We go up through the sled track until Rifugio Fanes (2060 meters); then, through a mule track, we pass a steep hump and we reach Giogo di Limo (2174 meters). From Lake Limo, with the secondary summit of Mount Col Becchei already in sight, we climb a steep slope and, through a sweet valley we reach a wide flat ramp offering us a fantastic view on Val de Fanes.

The final slope, very steep (crampons needed sometimes), will lead us to the top. The view on the Fanes range, on the Croda Rossa and on the Tofane is beyond words. The descent, very thrilling, can be performed either through the climb route or through the steep slope above the lake, reaching, then, through Giogo di Limo before going back to the srarting point.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Col Becchei features a 1300 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and ski mountaineering technical skills and is rated BS (Good Skier). Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
