The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Puez - East Side (2913 meters) is a wonderful and demanding hike developing within an immaculate and seldom frequented area in the Puez-Odle Nature Park.

Through a rich variety of environments, among which woods, an amusing valley full of steep couloirs and evocative peaks, we gain the top of the mountain. From there we can get an unforgettable, wide view on the Dolomites.

Skiing down on a nice steep couloir, we complete our descent into a beautiful quiet wood.

Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Puez

The hike starts on a trail that runs through a thick wood before opening into the Antersasc Valley and leading, through mild declivities, to the cottage. Going on through nice terraces, we reach a steep coilour; after climbing it with pick and crampons we reach Forcella Antersasc. Again through mild declivities, we get to a wide col where we start climbing the steep east side of Mount Puez. The view from the top is amazing and very rewarding.

Skiing down the coilour is fun and thrilling; it takes constant concentration because of the declivity and the narrow spaces. Once we’ve passed this challenging coilour enclosed between two huge rock walls, we can ski down through the valley to the starting point.

The ski mountaineering excursion to Mount Puez (Piz de Puez) features a 1300 meters elevation gain and loss. It requires good training and mastering of technical skills of ski mountaineering and is rated as OSA (Excellent Mountain Skier). Max downhill declivity: 45 degrees.
