Beautiful off-piste ski adventure along the popular and haunting Val di Mezdì, a spectacular and long Dolomitic valley set among 500-meter high rocky faces. The freeride itinerary unfolds pleasantly along never exceedingly challenging slopes in an exquisitely beautiful environment.
We begin our off-piste skiing excursion to the Val di Mezdì by boarding the Sass Pordoi cable car taking us up to Rifugio Maria at an elevation of 2950 meters, one of the most panoramic spots in the Dolomites. Once we reach the summit we ski down to Forcella Pordoi proceeding on a long traverse to the base of the Piz Boè rocks. We reach the Rifugio Boè all the way through on a traverse; there we begin the steep gully descending along the Val di Mezdì.
The valley treats us to greatly rewarding skiing, beautiful and never too challenging, except for the final section where it becomes steeper and narrower. As the valley ends we continue in the direction of Corvara, Arabba and Pordoi Pass, skiing on and off piste, along slopes and forests in the Dolomiti Superski Area, until we get back to our starting point.
The freeride ski excursion to the Val di Mezdì has an elevation loss of about 1800 meters on the off-piste skiing section and about 150 meters elevation gain on the climb on foot. It requires good training and mastering of technical skiing skills because of its MS (Medium Skier) rating. Maximum incline is 40 degrees.
