Information about the Mount Sassolungo trekking tour

The Mount Sassolungo trekking tour starts from Passo Sella (2’180 meters). The path goes up towards Col Focella Demetz going up through trail number 525. The trail passes through a part of the Città dei Sassi (City of Stones) before going up steep through the scree that leads to Rifugio Forcella Demetz (2’685 meters).

From there the path steeply goes down all the way to Rifugio Vicenza (2’256 meters). The hikers will now find themselves in the heart of the Range of Mount Sassolungo, with vertiginous walls of Dolomia that dominate the rifugio, while the view stretches towards valley Val Gardena. From the rifugio the hikers will go down and they will traverse northward through trail number 526. It is possible to find snow under the north walls of Mount Sassolungo.

Going back up a little bit the hikers will reach Rifugio Comici (2’154 meters). From there they will cross all the Città dei Sassi and they will reach Passo Sella.

N.B. it is possible to find snow in some stretches, even in late summer.
