The Micheluzzi climbing route to Mount Piz Ciavazes has become one of the great classic paths in the Dolomites. It is a historical route on the majestic side of this beautiful mountain. The itinerary goes up through the central section of Mount Ciavazes and it features a long, about 90 meters, V°+ and VI° traverse. This route provides an interesting, scenic and rewarding climb; an itinerary that gives unforgettable experiences and views.
This exciting climb develops along an itinerary that was opened by Luigi Micheluzzi and Ettore Castiglioni on September 26th 1935.
Micheluzzi climbing route to Piz Ciavazes is an intense and demanding itinerary with complex yet well equipped passages. All the stopping points through the whole development are very nicely equipped as well. The first and the last lengths are a little less equipped but the large traverse is adequately nailed and its VI° stretch is very well equipped. The via covers a 255 meter elevation gain and a development of 410 meters. The 12 lengths that make this itinerary can be climbed in 6 hours. The Micheluzzi climbing route is rated VI° maximum level of difficulty.
The descent crosses ledge Cengia dei Camosci. It features an evocative passage on hands and knees through a short tunnel before leading back to the foot of the mountain side. Two passages feature a descending climb (II°) or, as an alternative, a rappel. A nice trail, then, leads back to Passo Sella.
