Beautiful climb along the spur of the majestic overhanging South Pillar of Tofana di Rozes. The itinerary climbs along a logical and elegant line on beautiful grey-black slabs; a thrilling climb, technical and evenly paced, requiring good training.
The route was opened in 1946 by E. Costantini and L. Ghedina, it's a great classic in the Dolomites and is coveted by all climbers. It features an extremely rewarding itinerary. In the first lengths it unfolds along the great grey slabs of the Pilastro (Pillar) of Tofana di Rozes reaching the wide transverse ledge.
The central lengths lead to the great yellow roofs at mid-face, where climbers negotiate a difficult aerial traverse that makes this route so much more interesting and spectacular. The Costantini Ghedina climbing route unfolds in 15 to 17 lengths for 550 meters on excellent and solid rock, yet the last few sections are not as good. The climb has a VI-/A0 level of difficulty and averages IV+ to V. The descent is by trail.
