Magnificent climb along the majestic and overhanging South Pillar in the Tofana di Rozes. The itinerary climbs the unmistakable yellow-black face along a logical and elegant line among cracks, roofs, slabs, and corners: a thrilling, technical, and evenly paced climb, that requires good training.
The route was opened in 1944 by E. Costantini and R. Apollonio and is a great classic mountain climb in the Dolomites, coveted by all climbers. It features an extremely rewarding itinerary that follows a long crack in the first lengths, leading to the route’s key move: two large roofs and the famous "donkey's back" that we need to overtake with great strength and ability. Next are corners and an easy yet exposed traverse.
The Costantini Apollonio climbing route unfolds in 16 to 18 lengths for 550 meters on great and solid rock and may be slightly slippery in a few yellow stretches. The climb has a VII+/A0 level of difficulty, with mandatory VI. The descent follows a trail.
