The Bepi Zac via ferrata is located in the Marmolada Group of the Dolomites, primarily on the Costabella ridge, straddling the border between the provinces of Trento and Belluno in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The route traverses a ridge that was heavily contested during World War I, offering a unique combination of natural beauty and historical significance.
The hike typically starts from Passo San Pellegrino, which is accessible by car from nearby towns such as Moena and Falcade. From Passo San Pellegrino, the approach to the ferrata begins with a hike to Rifugio Passo delle Selle (2,528 meters), which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The trail to the rifugio is well-marked and moderately challenging. It can also be reached by cable car.
The Bepi Zac via ferrata is classified as moderate (grades B to C). The entire excursion route, including the approach and return, typically takes 6-8 hours to complete. The descent usually follows the marked trails back to Passo San Pellegrino
Technical Features of the Route
