The Attraverso il Pesce climbing route (Weg Durch den Fisch - the Fish Route), gained a legendary reputation. It is one of the Dolomite mountaineering masterpieces and one of its most classic climbs. This marvelous and very demanding climbing route got its name from a characteristic recess, right in the middle of the slab, whose shape reminds that of a whale.
The Attraverso il Pesce climbing route (the Fish route) was opened by Igor Koller and Jndrich Sustr on August 2-4 1981. First repeat: Luisa Iovane, Heinz Mariacher, Bruno Pederiva, Maurizio Zanolla Manolo, 1984. First redpoint: Heinz Mariacher & Bruno Pederiva, 1987.
The Fish route features a 1230 meter development and a 920 meter elevation gain. The itinerary is divided in 38 lengths. The climbing route rates 7+, A2 (7b+) maximum difficulty.
A wonderful -yet particularly demanding- climb that stretches on the south side of Mount Marmolada that falls down for more than 900 meters towards the gravels and the marvelous pastures of valley Val Ombretta. During the ascent the view that surrounds the climbers stretches among towers, pillars, slabs and cliffs. A wonderful climb but one of the most demanding on rock.
